This week we are celebrating the great state of Indiana, and let's just say - we are excited for it! We love peony's and how beautiful a field of these flowers can be! The stitch-out on this adorable ball cap is perfect for year-round fashion!

Now it's time for fun facts about Indiana! We also wanted to thank each and every one that continues to download these designs, create and share your projects with us, and support this blog! We appreciate this beautiful community of creators!

Fun Facts About Indiana:

  1. During WWII the P-47 fighter-plane was manufactured in Evansville at Republic Aviation.

  2. Crawfordsville is the home of the only known working rotary jail in the United States. The jail with its rotating cellblock was built in 1882 and served as the Montgomery County jail until 1972. It is now a museum.

  3. No other county anywhere in Indiana, or anywhere else in the world for that matter, has more covered bridges than Historic Parke County. There are 32 of those covered bridges in the county alone. That's actually why Indiana's considered the "Covered Bridge Capital of the World."

  4. In Fort Wayne, Syvanus F. Bower designed the world’s first practical gasoline pump.

  5. The very first goldfish farm actually existed in Martinsville, IN. It was built back in 1899.

  6. Baseball was practically born in Indiana – Fort Wayne, to be exact. The very first professional game had occurred in the town on May 4, 1871.

  7. Indianapolis had the pleasure of hosting Elvis Presley's last concert right in Market Square Arena in 1977.

  8. If you like popcorn, particularly Orville Redenbacher, know that almost 90% of that popcorn comes from Indiana.

  9. Everyone's favorite cartoon cat Garfield found his first home in Indiana, believe it or not. His creator, Jim Davis, was actually from Marion, IN.

  10. One of the greatest Christmas films (and stories) was based right in Indiana: "A Christmas Story." Admit it: it makes you want a BB gun and a leg lamp.

That's all for this week. Tune in next week for a new State Flower release and project! Happy Sewing and Happy Creating Everyone!
